Description

From the metro station it is a five minute walk to Rhoon Castle. The castle is an oasis of peace in the green. You can have a delicious lunch and dinner here, and of course fantastic hiking! The restaurant of the Castle of Rhoon is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:30 am to 22:00 pm.

You do not need to make a reservation for a snack and a drink. The Kasteelgaarde is a great place to stroll romantically and muse about the trips you want to make in the future.

Did you know…
Rhoon Castle has a rich history. In 1432 the castle was built to replace an older castle on this location. This castle was destroyed by the Saint Elizabeth flood of 1421. At the time it was privately owned by the Duyvelant family, the landlords of Rhoon. It is now managed by a foundation and the restaurant has been taken over by master chef Ad Janssen.

TIP:
We have described a beautiful walking route from the castle on the RET website. You can also request these in the castle.

Continue traveling
At Rhoon you get back on metro D in the direction of the Akkers. Please note, we get off at the Tussenwater stop and take another metro. We change from line D to line C (direction De Terp), to travel under the Maas again.

Fun fact about the Tussenwater stop: several metro lines converge here on three different floors. Nice for travelers interested in penitentiary: if you look to the north you will see the outside location of the city prison. Architect Maarten Struijs
