Description

With 215 hectares (430 football fields), the Zuiderpark is the largest city park in the Netherlands. It's so big you'll almost forget you're in the city. Young and old can get lost here on the playground, the beach, in the swamp area and the forest area.

To make it complete, you will find puddles and canals everywhere in the park to gaze out over. There are excellent places to barbecue and if you hear cheering it's probably from one of the many sports fields around the park.

Did you know…
An art route also passes through the Zuiderpark, passing various art objects. When the Zuiderpark opened to the public in 1936, a number of sculptures were designed especially for the park. In addition, you will also find many 'foundlings' in the park: statues that have lost their permanent place elsewhere in the city and are given a second life in the park. You can walk the so-called 'wandering route' by following the blue line in the park. And don't worry: the route is so spacious that new foundlings can still fit in.

TIP
The adventure island is located in the middle of the Zuiderpark. A large playground with slides, climbing structures, climbing stones and a pirate nest. The bathing water is clean and there is a poodle beach for the little ones. Would you rather watch animals in nature? From the Kromme Zandweg you come to the Olifant country house, a mill and idyllic farmlands.

Continue traveling
At the end of this park (see route map/photos) you have to walk a bit along the Zuiderparkweg towards the south and cross the Oldegaarde. Here you can take the metro D towards the Akkers. After one stop you get off at Rhoon.
