Description

Various museums are located in the Museum Park. Museum Boijmans van Beuningen's Depot building can be recognized by the mirrors on the outside. The design is by the Rotterdam architectural firm MVRDV. On top of the sustainable Depot is a roof forest with 75 double-trunked birch trees (Betula pubescens).

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's collection is world famous. This collection has been growing for 170 years and currently consists of some 151.000 objects. The lion's share of our beautiful objects is stored, spread over many depots that are closed to the public. Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen will open its doors in 2021.

The entire collection will be accessible to the public - a world first. The depot building by the Rotterdam architect Winy Maas reaches forty meters as high as the museum tower. And it offers residents and other visitors a beautiful panorama of the city and its harbor from the free-access roof garden with restaurant.

Did you know?

From here you can see the Erasmus Medical Center, which also has a roof garden on the eighth floor rich with fruit trees and plants. Based on the idea 'green is good for health', patients and staff on the roof of the hospital can enjoy greenery and the fresh air for a while.
