Description

People of many different nationalities live around the Rijnhoutplein. In order to give the square a special, international atmosphere, a number of palm trees (Trachycarpus fortunei) were planted in 2007. || Here you will find Augmented Reality -> read further below ||

Since 1995, the square has also had a statue of three women, made by the Rotterdam sculptor Anton Geerlings.

Did you know?
The municipality of Rotterdam is constantly looking at which trees will best suit the city in the future. The climate is changing, making it more and more very wet, but also warmer. Did you know that trees in cities are very important when it comes to 'heat stress'.

Trees retain water when it rains, absorb heat and are a source of cooling in the summer. That is why it is important to Stadsbeheer Rotterdam, which maintains the greenery in the city, which trees will grow well in the city in the future and which can keep the city cool in hot days.
