Wijkpark Oude Westen is located on the West Kruiskade. This part of Rotterdam is also popularly called 'Chinatown'. The neighborhood park used to be an inner garden of the nearby retirement home, but is now a semi-public neighborhood park. || Here you will find Augmented Reality -> read further below ||
This park was created during the time of urban renewal with a lot of effort and involvement of active residents and was opened in 1987. The four fountains with trees on either side have recently been added. To the right at the entrance is the life-size statue of the greatest man ever in Rotterdam: Rigardus Rijnhout, also known as the Giant of Rotterdam.

Further on in Wijkpark Oude Westen, after the lawn, are two old trees, a horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) and a wingnut (Pterocarya fraxinifolia).
