Description

Those who want to escape the bustle of the city will be able to enjoy themselves in the Kralingse Bos. This beautiful city park opened in 1953 is popular among residents from all over the city who want to enjoy nature.

The Kralingse Bos is popular with hikers, athletes, cyclists, families with children and sun worshipers. There is football, picnic, swimming and barbecuing. In the meantime young and old are jogging and there is danger on the lake. There are plenty of activities to experience.

Kralingse Plas

From peat to firewood

The Kralingse Plas used to be called the Noorderplas, and was one of the many ponds near Rotterdam that were created by Veenwinning. The other ponds were drained in the Nineteenth Century, but the Noorderplas was preserved. The construction of the forest did have some feet (or roots) in the earth. The plan for the park came into being at the beginning of the last century, but the two wars threw a spanner in the works. In the Second World War a large part of the planted trees disappeared in the stove. In 1953 the Kralingse Bos could finally be opened.

Did you know…

Children and adults can have a great time at Fun Forest? In this climbing park seven courses have been set out where young and old can climb and scramble. You can also SUP-board on the lake. During supping you stand on a board and paddle from one side to the other.

TIP:

Have you gotten hungry from all that relaxing by the lake? Then settle down on the terrace of De Tuin van de Vier Windreken. This restaurant has a beautiful view over the Kralingse Plas and excellent food.
