From the Euromast you can see miles and make beautiful selfies with the Rotterdam skyline in the background. With its 185 meter it is the highest tower in the Netherlands that is accessible to the public. With the Euroscoop you can go to the highest point and you have 360 degree views across Rotterdam. In clear weather you can even see The Hague and the North Sea.
The tower was built in 1960 and offers an amazing view over the city. From here you can see the port of Rotterdam, the districts of Rotterdam and the new architecture center of the city: the Kop van Zuid. When the weather is nice, you can relax in Het Park (the official name) at the bottom of the Euromast. Perhaps the most stately and certainly one of the most beautiful parks in Rotterdam.
The Park at the Euromast was designed by father and son Zocher, the same landscape architects who designed the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Guide Eugène de Klerk told RTV Rijnmond: “I once had a bus full of Amsterdammers. I then tell them the story about the Vondelpark and they actually react very surprised. For example, the Vondelpark is usually full of people. Then I say: yes, but people are working in Rotterdam. And then it is quiet for ten minutes. ”
You can abseil the Euromast? Real adventurers can go a step further than just up. In the summer you can slide down the tower on a rope! Our own twitteroma Marian recently went down, so it's certainly not just for vegetables! On the last Sunday of the month you can also strum. You then drive down the tower via a sort of cable car.
De Machinist is located near the Euromast. In this former Machinistenschool at the Willem Buytewechstraat is now a café-restaurant with a sunny terrace on the Schie. Here you can enjoy live music and there is a stand-up comedy once a month. De Machinist also changes twice a week in a film house where films can be seen.
Can you take it again after some food? Then walk a bit further and go to Museum Rotterdam '40 -'45 NU at the Coolhaven. There you will experience frighteningly realistic what it is like when your city is bombed.
