Description

Revealing the lights of Rotterdam Central's Christmas tree is just the start of an even more beautiful action. All the money raised with the crowdfunding campaign and with the MUSTSEE Christmas Tree Game is a direct donation to the Sophia Children's Hospital!

As soon as it was known that the Christmas tree was coming, MUST SEE pulled out all the stops in a very short time and made a real Augmented Reality game. Visitors to Rotterdam Central (120.000 per day) can scan the QR code of MUST SEE under the Christmas tree of Rotterdam Central and play the game. OR go to www.mustsee.today/kerstboom

Are you the best gift catcher in Rotterdam?
The game works very simply. Presents can be found around the Christmas tree in Augmented Reality, just like Pokékom Go. If you find as many presents as possible, you can redeem them for a free glass of champagne, mulled wine, or a real free Dudok Johnny Doodle chocolate apple pie bar. For the people who get the best high score, there are even more fun prizes to be won, such as a free ride for 4 people on the Snerttram through Rotterdam (and of course eating chowder).

Why wasn't there a Christmas tree?

Reporter and creative entrepreneur Maikel Coomans of RTV Rijnmond started a crowdfunding campaign after hearing that the Rotterdam Central Christmas tree had no sponsor. Coolblue had stopped doing that. When Coomans had received everything clearly from the Municipality of Rotterdam, there was less than 24 hours left to collect money for the Christmas tree.

Because within that time frame, Rotterdam would lose the option on the last beautiful large tree from Sweden this year, which could also be transported free of charge from a Christmas tree that went to Rotterdam City Hall.

In addition to the crowdfunding campaign, MUSTSEE (where Maikel is editor-in-chief) has organized an extra fundraising campaign. With a game on the mobile, passers-by of the Christmas tree at Rotterdam Central can both collect money for Sophia Children's Hospital and receive a gift themselves.
