Why May 5?
Liberation Day is the national holiday on which we celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945. On this day we also celebrate the liberation of the former Netherlands East Indies. On 5 May, the Netherlands will also reflect on the value of freedom, democracy and human rights.
The government chose this date because on that day the Germans capitulated. On Liberation Day, the Dutch flag hangs on all government buildings.
There are several food trucks and while enjoying a nice drink and something to eat you can listen to different artists all day long, such as Paul Elstak, Bente and $hirak.
