Description

Does the rain hit the windows and do you hear the wind raging through the trees? Then visit the Stoom Stichting Nederland. Here you learn everything about historic steam driven tools and means of transport. 

The foundation has steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and five-track carriages in the steam depot. Stroll along old trains, smell the coal and steam and enjoy the special locomotives.

Did you know…

The Stoom Stichting Nederland was founded in 1976? At the time, many train enthusiasts thought that the steam locomotives would soon be over. After all, the Dutch Railways had already decided in 1957 not to use steam locomotives anymore. The foundation wanted to ensure that historic steam-powered tools were maintained in good and usable condition. The first locomotives arrived in Rotterdam in early 1976 as shown in the photo below.

TIP:

Guided tours are organized by the pilot. Several times a year also rides are organized with trains pulled by steam locomotives.
